The first Day of Winter in the Land of Oz!

Brrrrrr! A cold start to Winter. A frosty start indeed! Memories flood back of the Capertee Valley in May and how warm it was there. There is a mouse plague on in New South Wales and there was evidence of this in May in the valley near Lithgow.

During my stay at the Homestead we had a mouse visit us at night. There was a fireplace with a fire and, above, the fire there was a sign which announced: NO SHOOTING! None of us there were interested in killing anything but we did have our cameras and we were camera happy, or at least that was me! Here are some babblers that babbled away when I was at Glen Alice in May!

Among the birds that caught my attention were the hooded robins that looked somewhat like robins with executioner hoods on. If you are a Discworld fan you will know what I mean.

Glen Davis is a town near Lithgow without much of a population. It thrived when there was mining but that was some time ago. Nowadays it is a good spot for birding.

More photos of the babblers at Glen Alice!
